Youth in nature party host

Position Overview:
Position Title: Youth in Nature Party Host (Part-Time, 5-10 hours/week as needed)
This is a weekend position, requiring work on 1-2 Saturdays and/or Sundays, per month, to support outdoor youth birthday parties and community events at our site in Lincoln, MA. This often looks like one or two weekends shifts, ranging from 5-8 hours each (1-2 parties). Candidates must be able to consistently work at least 1 weekend a month.
Scheduling and hours will be determined by the Development Director based on organization needs and host availability. Programming takes place primarily outdoors in all types of weather. Transportation to our site in Lincoln, MA is required.

Farrington Nature Linc’s mission is to enhance the well-being of children from low-income communities through a connection with the natural world. Our 75 acres of woodlands, fields and ponds near Boston are dedicated to providing respite and inspiration for children who might not otherwise have this opportunity. Farrington envisions a world in which every child has access to nature; every child knows that nature is a powerful source of physical and mental health and happiness; and every child learns that being a good citizen of the world includes being a good steward of nature.

Benefits:
● This position is compensated at $18.00 - $22.00/hour and is paid on a biweekly basis.
● There are no benefits.

Programmatic Responsibilities:
● Facilitate organized party and event activities and ensures children are active, interested, and safe throughout activities ensuring quality experience and engagement for families and their guests
● Greet, acknowledges, and interact with members and their guests in a friendly and professional manner
● Utilize and adapt existing party curriculum.
● Report to coworkers any unsafe conditions and necessary repairs at FNL involving garden, trails, equipment, buildings.
Qualifications:
● At least 18 years of age
● Experience with elementary school-aged children
● An outgoing, flexible, can-do approach to working with youth
● Hands-on outdoor experience (hiking, campfires, environmental science knowledge) is a plus.
● Strong communication skills, written and verbal
● Have or be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR Certifications.
● Physical ability to negotiate hilly terrain, dirt roads and dirt and gravel trails.
● Physical ability to respond quickly to situations requiring immediate action.
● Ability to work independently including ability to take direction with little follow-up
● Ability to be on feet continuously during shift
● Ability to speak clearly and confidently
● FNL staff members are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
